Joe Emrick will run for the open seat in the 137th Legislative District.

Upper Nazareth Township - Upper Nazareth Township resident and Slate Belt native, Joe Emrick, will be announcing his candidacy for the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in the 137th district. Emrick, who is Chairman of the Upper Nazareth Township Board of Supervisors has set a tentative date for his formal announcement on February 4th. Mr. Emrick ran for the same position in 2004 and has continued to be an active member in both the community and political arena.

In regard to Representative Grucela’s retirement, Emrick stated “I want to congratulate and thank Representative Grucela for his commitment and years of service both in the classroom at Easton High School and as a State Representative. I wish him the very best and a happy and healthy retirement.”

Emrick has already begun to put in place the necessary mechanisms for a strong and efficient campaign. He confirmed that this Fall he started extensive outreach for his campaign’s exploratory committee, has been in contact with various leaders, campaign consultants and has been actively planning to announce he will run for the 137th Legislative District.

Emrick added, “Our Township has served as a model for efficient and well-managed Government and we have been able to provide and improve upon all the essential services necessary for our residents and help lessen their tax burden at the same time.”

Emrick recently lead the charge to cut Real Property Taxes in Upper Nazareth Township by 7% for the 2010 budget. Uniquely, Emrick has led two tax cuts in his political career, enabled by cutting wasteful spending and his ardent support for open, transparent and effective government.

Joe Emrick resides in Upper Nazareth Township with his wife Christine, 10 year old daughter Olivia and 4 year old daughter Zoey. Joe graduated from Bangor High School in 1989 and Magna Cum Laude from Lycoming College in 1993. While at Bangor he was the 1987 Easton Express Football Player of the Year and a collegiate Academic-All American in football.
